Saanich East & Saanich West


SaanichThe District of Saanich, incorporated in 1906, is made up of Saanich West and Saanich East.  With approximately 108,000 people, it is the most populated municipality on Vancouver Island.   The University of Victoria, one of Canada's leading universities is located in Saanich.  Saanich offers residents an visitors many scenic attractions, a few of which are Matticks Farm, a small village of shops next to the Cordova Bay Golf Course, Mt. Douglas Park, where you can drive to the 213 meter summit and experience a 360 view of Saanich and Saanich Commonwealth Place, the aquatic facility for the 1994 Commonwealth Games.

In addition to the 170 municipal parks throughout the region, a large part of Saanich West is rural, including Elk, Beaver and Prospect Lakes. There are also several excellent golf courses in Saanich including Blenkinsop Valley, Cedar Hill, Cordova Bay and Prospect Lake.  

Saanich has several diverse neighbourhoods including Gordon Head, Broadmead, Gorge and Willis Point.
